Trees... and wide open spaces

A man has made at least a start on discovering the meaning of human life when he
plants shade trees under which he knows full well he will never sit.

I adore trees.  In fact I adore wide open spaces with gorgeous trees and the odd hill
or mountain.  I think it's a childhood memory from living on my grandfather's farm.
Here are three images from various outings in the country.
Even standing on their own, one or a few, they have such presence,
they demonstrate such strength ...

The trees are so simple and solitary. Reminds me of a Rembrandt drawing of the woods. He used lots of white space.

Solitary trees do speak of strength. Your photos are wonderfully powerful, and your quote reminded me of an 80 year old friend who loved to plant trees for those who would come after him.

These are beautiful Gena...I think I love the country so much from my summers at my grandparents' log cabin as a child. Thank you so much for posting to Nature Notes...Michelle
