Jacarandas in bloom 2.

I was negligent with posting pictures of the wonderfully, bright and cheerful Jacaranda blooms, during Oct/ Nov.  And sadly this year they didn't last as long as they normally would due to heavy unseasonal rainfall during November.  Nevertheless we got some good examples ....

I came across this particular scene, in Greenside.  A Jacaranda in bloom and surrounded by 2 variations of bougainvillea - making a bright presence in this garden.

note the lilacy jacaranda blooms surrounded by the pink and orange bougainvillea, and below,  the effect on the ground.

more Jacaranda pictures to follow ..... watch this space ....

I was completely surprised to discover there are jacaranda blooms in other countries. I hadn't realised they weren't indiginous to South Africa!

Yep, they are Brazilian, but have adapted well to the South African highveld weather!!! Well they are exquisite, so I for one, am glad!! have a great weekend!

I love jacarandas. I do not know if they are native to Arizona, but saw them regularly throughout the Phoenix valley when we lived there. We also have the dark pink bougainvillea there but your post is the first I've seen it in yellow. Very pretty.

Hi Lindy thanks for your comments. On the jacaranda - they are native to Brazil, but seem to have adapted to other parts of the world. The orangey/ yellow bougainvillea is also a rare sight here (Johannesburg), I'd been on the lookout for some during our psring and when I came across this I had to capture it!!!
