Monochrome Weekend: The Old Shark Bar

This was photographed at Ushaka Marine World in Durban, South Africa.
The picture was taken on a recreated "cargo ship wreck" - the bottom part houses a massive state of the art aquarium, and the other "floors" house various restaurants and bars/ old style pubs, all setup according to the time in which the ship would have technically been shipwrecked, hence the olde worlde details.
I managed to snap quite a few photos, of which this is one - part of the entrance to "The Shark Bar" (note the lights inside).

I like this, it works very well in monochrome. I think it has a more old time feel that way.
Thanks for visiting!

Thank you very much for commenting on my blog, Gena. Are you from Durban? I have been twice to SA but have not visited Durban.

Your photos are very beautiful. Your son is very handsome!

Have a great weekend.

This way the old boat and its history is used and preserved.
I enjoyed your other blog posts as well.

A picture like that can only be taken in monochrome!

The square format works well for this; made me think of the Tugboat restaurant at Swakopmund, Namibia.

I love it! And I would pay a lot to get that sign - sooooo coooool :)

Great monochrome shot. Also like your sky reflections and an afternoon snooze.

Great one for monochrome. Good composition and tonality. Evokes images of old and "salty."

I linked to your blog from Monochrome Weekend when I left my own post there. After spending some time scrolling through some of your posts I think I will visit you often. I confess that I know very little about your country and am very curious. I would love to visit the game lodge with its circular seating and spikey fence. I like the photo of your son and his dog. My wife and I have a bull terrier who likes to share our bed.

I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA which has its own history, in some ways similar to SA, in some ways very different. I invite you to visit. Tulsa Gentleman

Nice contrast. And, the shark sign does have an "olde" appearance.

It's unique and very clear for the monochrome without losing its detail. Thanks Gena.

I love all the details you've captured - the grain of the wood, and the lamps and flags inside.

We had our Eastern Cape party on this ship during Tourism Indaba last year.
