Neat image Gena. I've never seen anything like this one. Wonder why they call it a bottle brush? LOL

lovely photo.
I grew up with bottle brush plants, the bees sure loved them.

Nice photo, Gena. Did you steal the Australian Bottle Brush or did we steal it from you? It looks the same. I can't check because ours has finished flowering for now.

I love bottlebrush and grew big ones in California. They do not like it when the temperature gets to 32 or below, though.

Bruce Caspersonn said...

The ones in Canberra don't seem to mind. We get lots of below freezing temps.

Hi Pat/ Bruce - yes these are the Australian version .... as far as I know no bottle brush species is indemic to south africa.
Some types to handle a fair amount of cold, other's not too much - but I guess it really depends on what we mean by cold, hey?!
Thanks for the visit and your comments

The brush may be man-made, but it has a natural beauty, too. I see this as an undersea plant, the red bristle 'fingers' would be moving with the currents in the sea. Maybe something else, the imagination is at work here. A fine ruby!

We here in the desert Southwest have lots of bottlebrush. It's one of my favorite plants. Thanks for such a beautiful photo.
